Our Story

CrossRoad Story

Trailblazers: We see what others don’t see and we move where others will follow. That’s CrossRoad (Calvary Baptist Church). We started in 1946 with the vision of a church in what was a cornfield with nothing around it. The first parking lot was an unpaved area of eucalyptus trees. But the founders saw what no one else saw: a community that would spring up from former WWII GI’s and families ready to settle down. This growing community would need the strong faith that these leaders would bring. CrossRoad has continued to Trailblaze where others will follow. Our message has never changed (Matthew 28:18-20) but the demonstration has to adapt with the changing needs of the culture. Our history inspires us to continue to innovate and embrace a 21st century church. It’s what we call “Church Reimagined”, a hybrid church connecting an online campus, a local campus and church at home in one site. Our motto is “what would you do if you were not afraid” because that is the essence of walking by faith in Jesus Christ. What would we do if we weren’t afraid?

This is what we’d do: Church Reimagined.

“What would you do if you weren’t afraid?”
